Again sorry to all Gus and Peanuts readers…all 2 of you. That virus that was sneaking around my house this last weekend has finally gone, but not at the expense of my energy. Last night I had to crash early and hard, eating into my drawing time.
But all is well in webcomic land for me, and will get back on track. Thanks for the patience.
My process so far has been, draw at lunch with blue pencil and ink with a sharpie pen. At home I scan in and place text, balloons and characters on my panels.
Trying to keep it simple and I am trying to keep that hand drawn look rather than going completely digital.
This weekend we got some stomach virus floating around the house with fevers, etc. Even though we are now on the mend, I find myself without any energy to create Monday’s comic on Sunday night. HOWEVER..I will try and get it up later in the day. Thanks for the patience, and have a Happy Monday.
Hey everyone! Welcome to Grumpy Gus and Peanuts!
This has been a long time coming. I have always had a secret wish to be a cartoonist ever since, ever. I use to draw in school, at home, and day dream about doing this as my job and making a living at comics. However there was one tiny flaw with making my dream come true. Listening to others.
Yea, I am pouring a bit of my soul out here, but this is something that really bugs me about myself. I have listened to people over the years telling me…now is not the best time to start that, or there is no money in it….and I could go on forever. Some of these people in the past have had a vested interest in keeping me focused on something else rather than what I wanted to do. To be fair I know it’s no ones fault but my own for listening to them and not my heart, but that is not what this is about. This is about stopping and saying, Life is to short to screw around. Do what you love, and do it now.
Gus and Peanuts, as well as a lot of other characters, have been running through my head for as long as I can remember. Actually Gus started off as a Superhero believe it or not.
Gus is the been there, done it all type curmudgeon that knows everything, is not afraid to tell you what he thinks, and of course he is also an adventurer in his own mind. Peanuts is his long time friend that has been tagging along for the ride, constantly being made to do what he normally wouldn’t. In this time of their lives rather than live alone in a crappy dump they pulled resources and moved in together.
The site is still a work in progress…but I had to start somewhere.
